WHALES Fetal Death Registration Module Now Available
We are happy to announce the launch of the fetal death registration module within the Washington Health and Life Event System (WHALES).
Training, guidance, and resources for the new module can be found in the WHALES Help Section. To access the help section, select the “?” button in the upper right corner of the WHALES screen.
If you do not have the new module in the left navigation and you need to register a fetal death, you will need to submit an enrollment request. Follow the instructions below for your user group:
- Licensed Homebirth Midwives – Contact BirthRegistration@doh.wa.gov to complete the midwife enrollment process.
- Existing and New Users for Funeral Homes and Medical Certifiers - use the WHALES User & Facility Management Tool to request enrollment. Please review the attached instruction sheet WHALES Enrollment for Death and Fetal Death Registration Modules (DOH 422-293) before submitting your request.
Support is available Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. by calling 360-236-4370. You may also send an email anytime of day to DeathRegistration@doh.wa.gov and a staff member will respond to emails in the order they are received during working hours.
